The Greer Centennial Lions Club, a service organization focusing on vision, hunger, environment, childhood cancer and diabetes, will host a virtual 1-mile fun run, 5K and 10K event entitled “Run with the Lions” from Oct. 23 through Nov. 5.
The organization launched the virtual event following the cancellation of its annual fishing and bowling tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Greer Centennial Lions Club also donated $9,000 in sponsorship money from the canceled fishing tournament to Greer Relief, Greer Community Ministries and the Greer Soup Kitchen.
“We think this is a unique way to involve the community,” said Greer Centennial Lions Club president Mia Wade. “With this being a virtual event, we hope people living outside Greer will participate.”
Registration is $5 per virtual walker or runner. Those who wish to support the cause but not run or walk can register in the No Run Run category for $20.
