The event may have been virtual this year, but the money that will go to help local children is more real than ever.
This year’s annual “Share the Magic” fundraising initiative from Synnex distributed $1.4 million to four Upstate children’s charities during its 2020 virtual event, marking the largest ever disbursement made since the event began a decade ago.
The annual event has now given out $14 million since its founding.
This year’s beneficiaries included A Child’s Haven, Clement’s Kindness, Make-A-Wish South Carolina and Pendleton Place.
“There is always more to be done and more families to serve,” said Peter Larocque, president of North American technology solutions for Synnex and founder of the Share the Magic event.
But Larocque and the fundraiser’s organizers said they were proud of the work they’d done, especially given the unique circumstances wrought by the COVID-19 era.
“We would like to thank our vendor partners and local donors for helping make our first virtual event a success,” he said.
Already organizers are looking to the future, with 2021’s event planned as a major gala to be held at the Hartness Estate.
Hartness president Sean Hartness called Synnex’s fundraising efforts “a great example of what a corporation with a heart can do for a community.”
“We are very excited to be able to support their efforts to continue to raise millions for children’s charities in the Upstate,” Hartness said.
