The South Carolina Department of Transportation requests public comment on the new statewide multimodal transportation plan.
“Momentum 2050: Moving South Carolina Forward” offers a road map for the future of the state’s transportation system. The plan considers all forms of transportation including cars, trucks, trains, public transportation, cyclists and pedestrians.
The plan evaluates the existing transportation network in South Carolina and outlines long-term strategies and programs to achieve the state’s goals over the next 25 years. Momentum 2050 highlights four long-term priorities:
- Continue system recovery
- Support freight movement
- Address urban and rural mobility
- Deepen multimodal partnerships
SCDOT updates its multimodal transportation plan every five years to receive federal funding for transportation. Stakeholder and public input was collected throughout the planning process.
Justin Powell, South Carolina’s secretary of transportation, said SCDOT values the opinions of those it serves in improving South Carolina’s transportation system for an even brighter future. The public is invited to submit feedback on Momentum 2050 to SCDOT by April 19.
Public comments can be submitted via an online form or by emailing SCDOTpubliccomment@scdot.org. For more information, visit movingsouthcarolinaforward.com.
