Prisma Health announced on Wednesday, June 30 that it will relocate its large public COVID-19 vaccination sites to smaller locations in both Greenville and Columbia.
Those with appointments at the larger sites will be rescheduled to a different clinic, according to a press release.
“We are very proud to have begun the vaccination efforts on the first day the vaccine was available and have vaccinated more South Carolinians than any other organization,” said Dr. Rick Scott, chair of the Prisma Health vaccine task force. “We would not have been able to achieve our goals without important partnerships across South Carolina. We are grateful for the community effort to put shots in arms and build community immunity. We are all in this together.”
The Prisma vaccination site at Greenville’s Kmart Plaza will close Saturday, July 3. A new site will be located at 31 Medical Ridge Drive, on the lower level of Cross Creek Medical Park. It opens on Thursday, July 6. New site hours will be Wednesday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5.30 p.m.
In Oconoee County, the Prisma vaccination site at 298 Memorial Drive in Seneca permanently closed on June 28.
The health system’s mobile units will also add locations to their weekly schedules to reach community members in the Upstate. Find the schedule for the mobile units here.
“Prisma Health remains committed to making COVID-19 vaccinations easily accessible and free to everyone who is eligible,” said Dr. Kerry Sease, Prisma Health’s COVID-19 mobile operations leader. “While it feels like life is gradually returning to normal this summer, the arrival of the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus makes it more important than ever to protect yourself and your loved ones by being vaccinated. The last thing we want to see is another spike in infections and patients struggling against this virus.”
