A partnership between Miracle Hill Ministries and the Greenville Chamber’s Leadership Greenville Class 47 will develop the first transition home for women leaving the Miracle Hill Shepard’s Gate homeless shelter.
The renovated home will be located in Greenville. Transition homes are designed to be stable and safe environments for residents to recover and to focus on their futures, according to a release by the Greenville Chamber.
“According to the Greenville Homeless Alliance 2019 Report, Greenville County is currently ranked third in the state for the number of persons experiencing homelessness on any given night,” a spokesperson for the Greenville Chamber said. “Women and their families are the fastest-growing sector of the homeless population. Greenville is fortunate to have multiple organizations dedicated to combatting homelessness, but there is a desperate need for an exit strategy for homeless individuals exiting shelters.”
In order to maintain safety for future residents, the home’s address will be kept private, according to the spokesperson.
The Leadership Greenville Class 47 project team is raising $90,000 to go toward the renovated home. The group has already raised 75% of the funds needed.

They are now looking for donations to come up with the last 25%. The money will go toward kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, kitchen appliances, long-lasting vinyl tile flooring, outdoor decking material and construction and painting services.
