Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette officially announced her bid to run for South Carolina Governor in a social media post on July 14.
She was elected as the first female Republican lieutenant governor of South Carolina in 2018 and 2022 on the same ticket as Gov. Henry McMaster, who is unable to run for reelection due to term limits.
Evette will face off against State Sen. Josh Kimbrell (R-Spartanburg) and S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson in the 2026 Republican primary to become the party’s gubernatorial candidate.
The Travelers Rest resident founded Quality Business Solutions Inc., a payroll, human resources and benefits services firm based in the Upstate. She also serves on the St. Francis Foundation board of directors.
Evette is a graduate of Cleveland State University.
