Here’s a recap of Greer City Council’s March 9 meeting:
Approved: Zoning regulation amendment to allow lots smaller than 7,500 square feet to be zoned as an R-5 designation
Greer City Council voted to amend its Zoning District Regulations for individual lots to be zoned with the R-5 designation without the requirement of being a part of a development.
The current language in the zoning ordinance only allows for R-5 zoning if a lot is a part of a development of 3 acres or more or is a minimum of 7,500 square feet. The city has received several requests from residents near downtown on 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot lots with roads on both sides of the property, but they have not used all their land. These residents wanted to subdivide their properties to sell unused land but have not been able to do so because their lots would be smaller than 7,500 square feet.
Approved: Sno Hut Shaved Ice as Kids Planet concessions operator
City Council voted to approve Sno Hut Shaved Ice as the concessions operator at the newly renovated Kids Planet Playground, which is inside of Century Park at 3605 Brushy Creek Road.
