Here’s a recap of Greer City Council’s Aug. 12 meeting:
Approved: Rezoning hospital properties
Council unanimously passed the first of two readings of an ordinance changing the zoning of six properties owned by the Greenville Hospital System along South Buncombe Road.
The measure is aimed at creating consistent zoning for the parcels totaling 48.8 acres ahead of the hospital system’s development of a 100,000-square-foot medical office building.
The project is part of a larger $350 million expansion of Greer Memorial Hospital announced by Prisma Health in July.
The ordinance changes the zoning from a mix of commercial general and office professional to a uniform regional center classification. Second and final reading of the ordinance is expected later this month.
Approved: Annexation of Coldbrook Drive property
Council unanimously passed first reading of an ordinance annexing a .26-acre parcel on Coldbrook Drive into the city and establishing a zoning classification of traditional neighborhood.
The intent is to subdivide the parcel to allow for the construction of two roughly 1,400-square-foot single family homes.
The city planning commission has scheduled a public hearing on the measure for Aug. 18.
Council is expected to consider second and final reading of the ordinance at its Aug. 26 meeting.
