Here’s a recap of the April 12 Greenville City Council meeting:
Approved: Webb Road annexation
An application to annex roughly 8 acres of undeveloped land on Webb Road was given initial approval by City Council members. Park Terrace Development will provide 90 units of workforce housing to help alleviate the demand for affordable housing, according to planning documents. Both planning staff and the Greenville Planning Commission recommended approval of the project.
Approved: Unity Park undergrounding
City Council also voted to appropriate $2.24 million for the burial of overhead utility lines at Unity Park. The undergrounding project will concentrate on Hudson, Oscar and West Washington streets near the Unity Park site.
Duke Energy will share $936,000 of the cost, according to the ordinance. The money will come out of the city’s utility undergrounding fund, which has an estimated fund balance of $3.7 million.
