The Greenville County Recreation Department is wondering if anyone in Greenville County is missing a 9-pound goldfish. Officials found the fish while testing the health of the fish population at Oak Grove Lake off Roper Mountain Road in Greenville. The process used to check the health of the fish is called electrofishing.
A fisheries management plan was created in 2014 for Oak Grove Lake, according the Greenville County Recreation District website. In June 2015, the fish population stabilized to allow fishing to resume on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The department said on Instagram in response to a question about what happened to the fish, “currently unnamed goldfish is obviously very happy and healthy at Oak Grove Lake so we just said hello and put him back.”
