Here’s a recap of Greenville County Council’s March 4 meeting.
Approved: Resolution opposing TR annexation for hotel
Council unanimously adopted a resolution expressing council’s opposition to a proposed luxury hotel project on Paris Mountain, which is contingent on the project property being annexed into the city of Travelers Rest.
The measure was proposed at council’s Feb. 18 meeting by councilman Steve Shaw (District 20) in response to some resident opposition to the project following its announcement in late January.
The resolution is directed to officials with the city of Travelers Rest and enumerates a number of concerns over impacts the hotel development might bring, including increased traffic and public safety issues, environmental impacts and the potential for further annexation and development if the project is approved.

Approved: Ordinance requiring streaming of all council, committee meetings
Council approved the second of three readings to an ordinance requiring all county council and council committee meetings be streamed in real time and requiring recordings of those meetings to be made available within five business days after a meeting.
The measure also prohibits meetings from taking place if realtime audio and video streaming is unavailable. Emergency meetings are exempted from this requirement.
Third and final reading of the ordinance is expected later this month.
