The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce announced June 4 the inaugural Greer Arts & Eats Festival will be held in downtown Greer and Greer City Park on Oct. 1 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“The past year, filled with change and uncertainty, provided an opportunity to reevaluate our chamber priorities and their effect on future outcomes,” said Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce CEO David Merhib. “During the assessment process it became clear that after 35 years, it was time to discontinue Greer Family Fest. We, as the chamber board and staff, are thrilled to announce our inaugural event for 2021, Greer Arts & Eats Festival. The event will focus on arts, music and food, incorporating the changes to downtown Greer and to our growing, diverse community.”
The free, family-oriented event will feature an Artists Alley on Trade Street with art and crafts from local artisans as well as demonstrations for festival attendees. This section of the festival will also have a Kids Creation Station on Oct. 2 from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will also feature:
- Regional bands focusing on Americana, folk, country and bluegrass genres
- A variety of food vendors
- Beverages from The Southern Growl craft brewery
- Health screenings provided by Pelham Medical Center
Rounding out the activities for the festival is the Greer Super 5K/1M Fun Run. The 5K is a chip-timed race that winds through downtown Greer while the 1-mile fun run is slower-paced.
