Nonprofit organizations in South Carolina are invited to apply for the Duke Energy Foundation’s America250 grant program.
The foundation plans to honor America’s upcoming 250th anniversary by awarding grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to community-based projects across South Carolina and five other states. These projects must advance one of three areas:
- Workforce development programs for veterans
- Local history projects, historic site preservation and educational programs that celebrate the founding of the United States
- Community cleanups, park revitalization and shared green space improvement projects
“America250 is more than a milestone – it’s an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, recognize the contributions of all Americans and support the next generation through community-led projects,” said Loree Elswick, president of the Duke Energy Foundation. “Our investment is focused on uplifting the places and people that shape our communities.”
According to Duke Energy Foundation, more than $500,000 will be directed to organizations in South Carolina. The America250 grants will also be awarded to initiatives in North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida.
Qualified nonprofits serving within Duke Energy communities are eligible to submit proposals for the America250 grants. The application window opens Jan. 12 and will close Feb 20.
