Following the Children’s Museum of the Upstate board’s vote to eliminate the CEO position in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the community, Caroline Thompson was named the museum’s interim executive director. In this new role, she leads the day-to-day operations.
Thompson has served 21 months as a TCMU board member and brings over 30 years of experience, including leading teams through business transformations as a senior and C-suite executive for large and small global enterprises.
“Caroline Thompson brings a wealth of practical experience as the interim executive director,” said TCMU board chairwoman Connie Jones. “In light of current realities, it is best for the museum to focus on a sustainable future, which limits the talents and contributions initially envisioned through Hillary [Spencer]’s recruitment in 2019.”
TCMU operates locations in Greenville and Spartanburg.
