On Thursday, May 13, 26 students from 10 different schools in the Upstate performed as part of Centre Stage’s first-ever young artist showcase. Featured talents included musical and non-musical theater performances in solo performance, playwriting, and theatrical design work. Centre Stage is pleased to award three cash prizes and eight 2021-2022 internships to students who exemplify the professionalism and artistry that the PRELUDE program seeks to cultivate. Centre Stage plans to continue this program annually in the Spring.
This year’s event was emceed by WSPA’s Jamarcus Gaston. It was held outdoors and socially-distanced on the Upper Deck behind the Centre Stage building thanks to our partnership with Hughes Investments. The event was further made possible by the generosity of event sponsors Beverley K. Whitten, Harry and Sheila Bolick, Jack and Judy Depriester, and a grant from the Metropolitan Arts Council.
