The city of Mauldin and the Mauldin Cultural Council are accepting requests for proposals until Aug. 10 for the 2021 Mauldin Public Art Trail installation at the city’s cultural center.
In the wake of COVID-19, this year’s selected theme is “Heroes and Leaders,” which during the pandemic may include health care workers, manufacturers producing supplies and medical equipment, innovators and researchers working toward finding a vaccination, and individuals who have practiced social distancing or isolation to protect the immunocompromised.
Artists’ submissions should reflect these themes. Applicants must be South Carolina residents during the project. Following the proposal submission deadline, the selection committee will submit two finalists, who will be asked to develop conceptual designs. The final artist will be chosen in mid-October 2020 and must plan to complete the project no later than mid-June 2021, while keeping within the $15,000 budget for fabrication, artist fees and installation.
