Mauldin included in Realtor.com’s 10 Best Markets for First-Time Homebuyers in 2022

Mauldin ranked no. 3 on Realtor.com’s 10 Best Markets for First-Time Homebuyers in 2022.

The list was compiled based on a variety of criteria including:

  • Almost twice the number of homes for sale than the national average
  • A younger population than the country, overall
  • Plenty of options for a night out on the town nearby
  • More affordable homes
  • A healthy job market
  • Strong local housing markets
  • Shorter commutes

“Buying a first home is always a challenging undertaking, and it’s been an especially tough couple years for first-time buyers, many of whom are struggling to find a home that’s within their budget or win in a competitive bidding situation,” said Realtor.com chief economist Danielle Hale. “With this in mind and the fact that remote work has given people more flexibility in where they live, we wanted to identify markets where first-timers have a chance to become homeowners and find a great quality of life. ”

Joining Mauldin on the list are:

  • Magna, Utah — No. 1
  • Chalco, Nebraska — No. 2
  • Beech Grove, Indiana — No. 4
  • Portsmouth, Virginia — No. 5
  • Cottage Grove, Wisconsin — No. 6
  • Grimes, Iowa — No. 7
  • Kuna, Idaho — No. 8
  • Ferndale, Michigan — No. 9
  • Maitland, Florida — No. 10
