STAYING IN:

A different style recommendation this time…

FAMILY GAME NIGHT!

Family game nights create lasting memories, and they don’t have to be complicated, take a lot of planning time or even a huge amount of effort. Some of my best memories with my son were sitting around a kitchen table playing a store bought game.

What are some great options?

Ticket to Ride: a cross-country train adventure in which players collect and play matching train cards to claim railway routes connecting cities through North America.

Sorry: Slide, collide and score to win. Draw cards to see how far you get to move one of your pawns on the board, or if you can knock out one of your opponents.

PHASE 10: Rummy-type card game where players compete against one another to see who can complete 10 varied phrases first.

GIVING BACK:

Fun & Fundraising all combined into one neat event…

Park in the Dark

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park | 431 Main St, Chimney Rock, NC

Come celebrate the autumn season by watching nightfall from the top of Chimney Rock. Your family will enjoy hands-on activities, nature stations, storytelling around the campfire, s’mores and much more during this fundraising event for the Friends of Chimney Rock State Park.

“This is our Annual Fundraiser and all proceeds will be used to improve the park for future visitors,” said Ryan Lubbers, Board Member of FCRSP. “We are looking forward to the Park in the Dark event and invite everyone to come out and celebrate a very extraordinary evening at the Rock!”

ONLINE AUCTIONS: Going Once, Going Twice, SOLD!

Ever Experienced a Live Auction?

Live auctions, like we talked about last weekend are a whole lot of fun, not only for finding great deals on everyday items but also for those who enjoy people watching. But there are other options…

Online auction sites, such as Proxibid.com, offer bidders a way to buy auction items from the comfort of the couch! The local auction houses who participate on Proxibid typically offer very convenient local pick up times – so no paying for shipping! I have literally furnished 85% of my home – including furniture, artwork, rugs and essentials bidding/winning on Proxibid.com

One tip: Be sure to find your “local” auctions so you are able to pick up the item(s) you win, avoiding the extra charges associated with shipping.
