The Greenville Police Department has announced the implementation of new software for location accuracy to help emergency responders reach their destination.

The software is called RapidSOS and can locate callers in moving vehicles. RapidSOS will help when callers are stressed and unable to pinpoint their exact location.

In the past couple of weeks, Greenville Police Department dispatchers have been testing the software with mock scenarios, and the results have been impressive.

“We have been pleased with the RapidSOS service so far,” Fran Moore, longtime GPD Communication Center director, said in a statement. “There’s no special equipment required, and the caller doesn’t need to do anything differently to benefit from the service in real-time.”
