Young students write their own ‘Elephant & Piggie’ books for SCCT contest

The South Carolina Children’s Theatre held a writing contest for local K5-sixth graders to create their own Elephant & Piggie books inspired by children’s author Mo Willems.

Out of 165 entries, four students were selected to win tickets to SCCT’s Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are In A Play” on June 15-16 where their winning stories will be read live from the stage. They also received professionally bound copies of their stories.

The purpose of the contest was to encourage creativity and literacy among young students. The winners were selected from three age groups and judged with a professionally developed rubric.
