An 11-year-old student from Oakview Elementary School is facing charges after Greenville County Deputies say she brought a BB Gun to school.
Deputies, who arrived on scene around 7:30 Thursday morning, made contact with the student and were able to locate the weapon.
During the course of investigation, investigators learned that the student had made threats to shoot another student following an off-campus altercation that occurred the day before. When students observed the airsoft gun, they told school staff, who alerted deputies.
The fifth grader is now charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and student threats.
This was the second incident in Greenville County on Thursday in which a student was found with a weapon. The other case involved a student at Woodmont middle who found brought a gun to school in his backpack.
A spokesperson with the Greenville County School District is asking parents to remind children that no weapons, even toy weapons, are allowed on school property.
