Tammy Foster always had a passion for fitness. In 2010, her passion led her to start her very own training facility, 3D Fitness in Greenville. Tammy’s goal was to address health disparities in the African American community through exercise and nutrition. She wanted to help people live healthier lives, whether through training clients in the gym or speaking at events in the community. She loved participating in events like the Black Girls RUN!, the Mud Run and a number of 5Ks and 10Ks.

Unfortunately, this mother of three was fighting her own battle with breast cancer; a battle she lost on January 4th, 2019. In 2018, after reassurances from her doctor that nothing was wrong, she went back to get rechecked, and was told she had Stage 4 breast cancer in May. Her family circled around her and helped her fight for as long as she could, but her cancer spread, and she ultimately succumbed in early January at the age of 47.

Tammy is survived by her large family, including lovely three daughters and three grandchildren. Her fiancé Rod said, “Rest in Heaven, Tammy. Job well done serving your family and community.”

Please join us in congratulating this 2019 Upstate Black History Maker!
