Greenville County Schools officials confirmed a Wade Hampton High School senior died in a car accident on Old Rutherford Road in Taylors at about 7:56 a.m. this morning

Andrew Weaver, 16, drove off the right side of Old Rutherford Road before overcorrecting, going down an embankment, and crashing into a tree, according to Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Weaver was wearing a seatbelt, according to reports.

Weaver was a resident of Taylors and student at Wade Hampton High. Beth Brotherton, spokesperson for Greenville County Schools, said there were additional counselors at the school today for students and staff.
