Furman University has cancelled all of its Thursday and Friday classes and student activities ahead of potential impact from Hurricane Florence.

The university made the announcement Wednesday afternoon as the National Hurricane Center has predicted shifts in Hurricane Florence’s path toward South Carolina.

“Students remaining on campus through the weekend should be aware of their surroundings during inclement weather, which includes the possibility of falling trees and limbs, localized flooding or downed electrical lines,” a statement from the school said.

The announcement said the university’s offices will remain open as officials monitor the weather.
