You can help Greenville’s hungry by taking an Instagram of your food

Local #blessed social media campaign to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank and those suffering from hunger this holiday season

Giving back has never been so easy.

This year FUEL and Smoak Public Relations are partnering with local restaurants to encourage the Greenville foodie community to use “#blessed” through the holidays to donate to charity. The campaign will benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank.

Each time the hashtag is used with a photo of local food, one can of food will be donated to aid those in need this holiday season. The campaign will run December 1 through December 24.

To participate, simply take a photo of your meal at a local restaurant, and share the photo on Instagram. Make sure to use #blessed as well as tagging @harvesthopefb, and explain how you have been blessed.

Every time the hashtag is used, one can will be donated to Harvest Hope Food Bank. The goal is to donate 5,000 cans.

FUEL President Warren Griffith says, “We wanted to take back that hashtag, capitalizing on its popular use to actually help those in need this season.”

Harvest Hope Food Bank started in 1981 and is a leader in hunger programs and services to those in need across 20 counties in South Carolina. The organization currently provides food to 38,000 people a week who struggle with hunger, poverty and unemployment.

So enjoy a delicious local meal, channel your inner Instagram foodie, and give back to the community, all at the same time.
