Although brunch has been around for quite some time, within the last few years it seems its popularity has skyrocketed. For many, brunch has become a weekly occurrence and a coveted opportunity to enjoy a laid-back meal with family and friends. Scroll through your Instagram feed on a Saturday or Sunday morning, and you’ll probably see at least one image with an accompanying “#brunch.”

Luckily for us in the Upstate, Greenville has a variety of places to enjoy a nice midmorning (or early afternoon) meal. Below is a list of brunch spots you’ll want to visit.


GB&D (Golden, Brown & Delicious)

The namesake’s menu is exactly what you might expect, but make no mistake, this kitchen is a seriously growing classic. Located in the Village of West Greenville, GB&D’s brunch crowd can expect dishes like salads with seasonal fruits, French toast and other sweet pastries, and of course, the “Brunch Burger,” loaded with bacon, egg, cheese, coffee butter, with a side of tots and a fried doughnut. But their menu changes daily, so be sure to call or follow their social media for updates. Truly a favorite at the Community Journals team.

Halls Chophouse

Southern decadent classics, served a-la-carte. Trust us on this and go for a crab theme on your next visit, like the creamy crab soup or the Crabcake Eggs Benedict, (the Creole roasted pepper sauce gives it just enough kick.) To top it all off, don’t miss out on their eponymous Bloody Mary, the brunch is simply incomplete without it.

Spoonbread Restaurant

Spoonbread is one of the dining options at the Westin Poinsett hotel, but you don’t have to be a hotel guest to eat brunch here. An all-you-can-eat buffet will cost you $19.95, and the numerous options include a cook-to-order omelet station, waffle station, various pastries and meat and cheese trays. For an additional $4, you can add an entrée order to the buffet. Dishes include traditional eggs Benedict, shrimp and grits and crab cake sliders. After 10 a.m., guests can enjoy a bloody mary or mimosa for $6.75 per glass.

Tipsy Taco

Chorizo Hash Benedict: It’s only right to start this off here. Served with a side of black beans and jalapeño hollandaise sauce, this is the spot to stay awhile and let the flavors sizzle. Another highlight to sample is their Huevos Breakfast Bowl served with peppers and crumbled goat cheese; perfect for grits fans that crave a major flavor upgrade.

The Anchorage

Praised for its creative list of seasonally-updated menu items, this West Village gem is where many of us go for an after-hours drink or even dinner. Sundays, however, are all about the sourdough beignets baked fresh (see below), the sweet potatos bravas (a tomato-based sauce), the bake room French toast, and absolutely, the All Bark No Bite, a Bombay gin mixture with floral bitters, blueberry-basil-tarragon shrub and Avinyo Vi D’Agulla, a bright, lemony wine.

Passerelle

Situated next to the Liberty Bridge and overlooking Falls Park, Passerelle is one of the newest Table 301 restaurants in Greenville, and its name gives a nod to its location; passerelle means “footbridge” in French. The menu combines French, European and local influences. Brunch options include French classics like crepes and quiche.

When: Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ink N Ivy

Omelettes, “bennies” and chicken & waffles (with maple sausage gravy) are the typical fare found at this hopping location and we think they are best enjoyed on their rooftop. Drinks are served up top as well and the feasting is all up to you.

The Bohemian

The Bohemian serves a self-described “ultimate American” menu. Their Sunday brunch offers traditional breakfast favorites ranging from eggs Benedict to French toast, but the menu’s most memorable item is the “hangover burger,” a burger with bacon, fried egg and American cheese served with an ice-cold PBR. Sounds like the perfect remedy after a night out.

Soby’s

Another Table 301 member, Soby’s has long been a favorite in Greenville. Their Sunday brunch is all-you-can-eat buffet style, and though the menu changes weekly, a standard sample menu includes pastries, cold foods and salads, hot foods and a carving station. Soby’s also serves a custom $3.01 bloody mary and mimosa menu. Reservations are not required but recommended.

When: Sundays, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Bacon Bros. Public House

Exactly what you’d expect from its name, this is a meat-lover’s paradise and don’t worry, there’s gluten-free options, too. Each week is a surprise with a new menu, but if you’re lucky, you’ll get to sample favorite fixings like their fried chicken, scrambled egg and cheese on a biscuit, the banana bread french toast, (you heard right and we can’t believe it, either), with hickory smoked bacon, or their version of a ‘bennie’ with Canadian bacon. Prepare to DINE.

When: Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Caviar & Bananas

A popular choice and one that we fully support, this particular restaurant/specialty grocery is a favorite amongst the office lunchers, post-yoga brunchers and everyone else in-between. The prosciutto fried egg sandwich, for example, has a roasted tomato marmalade that we always want to take home and bottle up. C&B’s Avo Toast steps it up a notch with its grilled sourdough bread and choices of fried egg or citrus grilled shrimp toppings, (which are totally delicious altogether.)

When: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Southern Culture

Given the restaurant’s moniker and brunch menu options with names like “Down South Omelet,” “Omar’s Dixie Land Poutine” and “Carolina Dreaming Burrito,” it’s no secret that Southern Culture is delivering a twist on Southern-style cuisine. Brunch features a custom bloody mary and mimosa bar, and “bottomless mimosas” are also offered. Enjoy live music from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.

When: Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rick Erwin’s Nantucket Seafood

If you’re looking for the classics, you’ll find most of the great ones here. But what sets Nantucket apart is the stunning and lavish seafood display all chosen by the chef.

Roost

Roost prides itself on a menu that is centered on serving seasonal, organic and local ingredients. Though breakfast is available every morning, late risers on Sunday can peruse Roost’s brunch buffet, which incorporates both traditional breakfast staples and innovative creations. And don’t forget to order a signature blood orange mimosa or hand crafted bloody mary.

Crêpe du Jour

This long-awaited gem contains sweet and savory crêpe options as well as your traditional breakfast items. The real beauty of this place is found in its lunch menu, with items like the Smoked Ham & Gruyère Cheese crêpe or if you want to be a little more authentic, try the Crêpe Canard, duck confit on a bed of arugula and caramelized onions.

When: Monday-Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday-Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Stella’s Southern Brasserie

Upscale and French-inspired, you are sure to be begging for seconds (and maybe even thirds) from this menu. From a humble pairing of buttermilk biscuits with seasonal jam to something a bit more elevated like Stella’s Pan Roasted Bacon Wrapped Trout Filet, you’re sure to have friends and family clamoring over what to order the next weekend. And don’t forget to check out their comprehensive mimosa and cocktail offerings, like the Lychee Sparkler, Agave Jalapeño Margarita or the GVL Lemon Shandy.

UP on the ROOF

You know what they say, things seem to taste better higher up. Providing perfect dining with an incredible view of the Greenville cityscape, UP is located on top of Embassy Suites at Riverplace. We definitely encourage you to get whisked away on a food high with their duck hash or their bourbon bacon frittata, a blend of egg, spinach, bacon.

Liberty Tap Room & Grill

Located right next to Fluor Field, Liberty Tap Room is an ideal spot to dine prior to catching a Drive game. But their brunch menu is also worth checking out, with options including Southern staples like shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles. You can also choose from three different types of mimosas and bloody marys.

Willy Taco – FEED & SEED

Maybe you’re not feeling the usual eggs benedict this Sunday and that’s OK. Shake up your Sunday routine with Willy Taco’s Mexi’ Brunch. The following hits can honestly speak for themselves: Huevos Rancheros with tangy mojo pork, chipotle crema and queso fresco or breakfast enchiladas with ranchero sauce, fried onions and scrambled eggs or our personal favorite, The Gaucho Skillet, for those who enjoy their loaded potatos with chorizo, grilled poblano peppers and pepperjack cheese over eggs.

Terrace

A newer addition to Greenville’s West End, this restaurant group caters to the breakfast and brunch-obsessed until the early afternoon. We especially enjoy having their Sunny Croissants with an avocado spread or any of their Terrace Specialties, such as the shrimp & grits with chorizo, the Chef’s Hash Skillet, or if you’re the wild card of the group, be sure to taste the Spicy Chicken Biscuit, served smoked ghost pepper pimiento cheese on fried chicken and bacon. You’re sure to win the dare with this one.
