Former Clemson quarterback and Houston Texans rookie Deshaun Watson can now add ESPY winner to his resume.
On Wednesday night, Watson was awarded the ESPY for Best Male College Athlete. Other nominees in the category were Ian Harkes (soccer, Wake Forest University); Frank Mason (basketball, University of Kansas); Matt Rambo (lacrosse, University of Maryland); and Zain Retherford (wrestling, Pennsylvania State University).
Watson was also nominated for Best Championship Performance in recognition of his play against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship earlier this year. That award went to 2017 NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors.

The ESPY is just the tip of the iceberg for Watson, who won numerous accolades during his three-year tenure at Clemson. A two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, Watson was awarded the Davey O’Brien Award in 2015 and 2016 and named the ACC Athlete of the Year in 2016. In 2015, Watson was also named the ACC Player of the Year and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year.
