Lou Grant is coming to Greenville, and he wants to tell you about his operation.
Famed actor Ed Asner will be touring in the Upstate for his new production, “A Man and His Prostate,” on Sept. 18 at 3 and 7 p.m. at Greenville’s Centre Stage. Asner is known for legendary roles in “Elf,” as Santa Claus, the voice of Carl Fredericksen in “Up,” and most famously for his work in “The Mary Tyler Moore” show as Lou Grant. Asner teamed up with Emmy Award-winning writer Ed Weinberger, whom Asner has worked extensively with throughout his career. Weinberger is revered in comedy circles for his writing on productions such as “Taxi” and “The Tonight Show,” among many others.
The one-man comedy show follows Asner’s journey as he deals with an impending surgery he is strongly opposed to. The show is based on the true-life experiences of Weinberger, who was hospitalized in Italy for several days after becoming ill on vacation.
Tickets for the production at Centre State at 501 River St. range from $30, $45, and $50 depending on package. Guests are also able to access meet-and-greet passes with Asner for an additional $20. For tickets, call 864-233-6733 or visit at www.centrestage.org. Additional handling fees will accompany all purchases.
