A music-related entity could go into Heritage Green in the space vacated by Bob Jones University’s Museum and Gallery satellite facility while the SHARE building on Pendleton Street in the Village of West Greenville could be the South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s temporary home.

Greenville County Council members will consider an ordinance that allows the Greenville County Council chairman and County Administrator Joe Kernell to execute leases with the Carolina Music Foundation for county-owned property at Heritage Green and with the SCCT at 1200 Pendleton St.

According to a memo posted online, County Council Vice Chairman Willis Meadows will introduce an ordinance for the approval of leases in title only and refer the proposed leases to the council’s finance committee.

The SCCT will vacate its space on Augusta Street in August so it can be torn down to make room for its new multi-million campus. The theater expects to break ground on a 300-seat theater, a separate Second Stage space, education classrooms, administrative space, and a large lobby.

Construction is expected to take 16 months and the theater should be in its new facility in January 2019.
