The Anchorage open to the public Jan. 17

Restaurant will be open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday


It’s finally here. Chef Greg McPhee’s The Anchorage will officially open to the public Jan. 17.

The newest addition to the Village of West Greenville will offer dinner service Tuesday–Thursday, 5–9:30 p.m., and Friday–Saturday, 5–10 p.m.

“Our hope is to continue to revitalize the Village of West Greenville by introducing our guests to all of the wonderful businesses and artists that have made the Village the place we’re proud to call home.” McPhee says.

Chef McPhee, an alum of Restaurant 17 and Husk Charleston, has created a small plate menu including vegetarian, gluten-free and dinner-for-two options. McPhee’s dynamic menu plan features house-made charcuterie, bread and ice cream, as well as seasonal produce, fresh local proteins and innovative beverage pairings.

“We want to create a comfortable atmosphere with the same care and dedication to quality of product that you would expect from a fine-dining restaurant,” McPhee says. “I’ve always loved neighborhood restaurants where there is a sense of community, so we chose the name The Anchorage to convey that sense of connection and comfort.”

The proteins on the menu range from $8-16 and include pork belly, wood-roasted oysters, a Thai beef salad and triggerfish. The vegetable offerings ($6 each or three for $15) include brown butter cauliflower, grits, spicy sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts and crisp potatoes. For the table, an assortment of various vegetables, liver mousse, cheeses and sausages with house-made bread is $20.

McPhee’s wife, Beth, who has been working on site with the construction crew says the first items she will order will be the Bahamian Salted Fish Fritters and the Pappardelle with Lamb Sausage.

The Anchorage is designed to accommodate approximately 70 guests inside, and its upstairs features a white quartz bar, as well as a small rooftop terrace that is set to open later in the spring. The restaurant sports an open-kitchen concept with a wood burning Argentine grill. There is planned outside seating on the future plaza in front of the building.

The Anchorage features many local artists throughout the design, including The Slab Guild, Lonely Mountain Metal Works, Darin Gehrke Ceramics, Art & Light Gallery, Laurel Creek Florals and Sunny Mullarkey Designs.

The Anchorage will be using Waitlist.Me as opposed to a standard reservation system. The list will open every day at 5 p.m. and customers can either come directly to the restaurant, call or go to The Anchorage website to add their name and check their place in line.
