Spartanburg rock climbing gym hosts home school day

All families, ages involved in alternative schooling invited to climb at reduced rates

Climb Upstate will be hosting a fall home school rock climbing event on Oct. 14, noon-9 p.m., at their indoor rock climbing gym, 6655 Pottery Road in Spartanburg. The event is open to families, groups and co-ops involved in alternative schooling, as well as all ages.

“We have tons of home school families in the Upstate that climb with us; some of them are even involved in our Junior Rock Climbing Team,” says Storm Crane, Climb Upstate’s head climbing coach. “We love creating a family-friendly environment to invite families and home school groups to just come, hang out and try something new and active together.”

This is the fourth home school day Climb Upstate has hosted since spring 2015. Families come from the Charlotte, Asheville, Columbia and Pickens County areas to take advantage of the reduced prices and chance to connect with other home school families.

Day passes are $10 and child (4 and younger) passes are $5. These include climbing gear and rental shoes. Families are welcome to picnic while at the event. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead with a tentative group size.
