When you think of go-kart racing, you probably think of unsupervised children on a sugar high that don’t quite grasp the concept of not riding the rails yet. Well lose that idea, because LeMans Karting is a 40-mile-an-hour karting experience that gets your adrenaline pumping.

Since we don’t expect you to know much about karting, we’ve compiled a list of the things you should know about serious karting in Greenville.

Every cart is less than a tenth of a second apart

If you’ve ever been karting, you know how infuriating it can be when your car is slower than your opponents’. Or maybe you use that as your excuse when you’re triple lapped for your confidence’s sake. Well not at LeMans Karting. They have two mechanics on staffs that regularly assess the karts so that they are all within a tenth of a second apart in speed. So no more excuses for losing.

Karting is an incredible stress reliever

Fridays can be stressful as you’re making sure that everything is done and in place so you can enjoy your days off and avoid the unfortunate task of working on the weekend. We got to test drive the karts on a Friday when there was a lot going on in the office. For the time that you are driving the karts, I would argue that it’s impossible to think about anything other than driving. So even if you can’t dodge work completely on the weekend, work in a mental break with karting.

LeMans Karting host corporate events

This is one of the few occasions you can put in some serious trash talk with your boss without being sent to HR. You can real life Mario Kart with your co-workers — minus worrying about slipping on a banana peel.

LeMans Karting has league racing

Racing is not a cheap hobby. What other sport requires you to buy a motorized vehicle that you have to put in another vehicle to transport anywhere? On the first and third Sundays of every month, LeMans Karting hosts a one-hour “enduro race.” The car and the mechanic come with the cost of the race.

GVLToday tip: Go on your lunch break Tuesdays – Thursdays, noon to 2 p.m., for $15.

  1. Sounds like fun, but I am also reminded of DisneyWorld, where so much time is spent standing in line. The pricepoint shows, “noon to 2 p.m., for $15” – is that for ONE run around the track between these hours for $15 or for unlimited track time between those hours or simply an entrance fee, with kart rental separate? How the pricing actually works would be an interesting detail prior to heading out there…

  2. This is Rick from LeMans Karting. Thanks for your comments and question. To answer, our Lunchtime Special is $15 per Time-Attack Session. If you’ve done indoor kart racing before, you’ll know this is a fair deal. If you haven’t done it before, wheel-to-wheel racing in karts rated to 50mph is a real thrill! Hope to see you at the track!
