Downtown Greenville continues to expand with the arrival of new businesses, shopping, dining and entertainment and cultural events. As these new amenities draw more people — both locals and visitors — into downtown, the importance of having sufficient parking facilities becomes elevated.

During peak business hours and on weekend nights, finding parking downtown can be a challenge, especially if you’re looking to park near a specific destination or if there’s a major event happening. That’s why we’ve created a parking guide to make the process of finding a parking spot downtown less of a nuisance.

According to the city’s parking website, there are 700 free on-street parking spots scattered throughout downtown, but keep in mind that these can be difficult to secure on busy nights and weekends. Some of those spots also have set time limits and other restrictions.

Most of us will have to rely on garages and decks for our parking needs. In all city parking garages, the first hour to park is always free. After the first hour, you’ll pay $1.50 for the second hour and $1 per hour for the remaining hours. The daily maximum charge for parking is $7.50.
