Autumn and Walter, two Masai giraffes at the Greenville Zoo, are proud parents once again. The baby calf was born at approximately 6:15 a.m. after Autumn went into labor at 5 a.m. Tuesday. Baby and mama are both doing fine.
The sex of the new calf will not be known for about 24 hours until an exam is able to be performed, said Jeff Bullock, zoo administrator. A contest is already underway to name the new addition.
The new calf is the second born to Walter and Autumn. Kiko was born in October 2012 and has since gone on to a new home at the Toronto Zoo in Canada.
