The Greenville Police Department is accepting applications for the 2016 Citizens’ Academy.
Participants will learn about services the GPD and City of Greenville offer, what an officer deals with while on duty and how communications specialists answer and dispatch emergency calls.
The classes are free and open to anyone who lives or works within the city limits. Classes will be held every Tuesday Feb. 9-May 24 from 6-9 p.m. at the police department’s training facility.
Participants must attend at least 12 sessions to graduate and must be at least 21 years old with no felony convictions, misdemeanor convictions that carry a penalty of imprisonment greater than one year, or convictions for any crime of moral turpitude. Participants must not be awaiting trial for any criminal offense (excluding minor traffic offenses), and must submit to a criminal history check.
