The Greenville Health System’s Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Simpsonville was designated a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Hillcrest is the first and only hospital in South Carolina to receive this designation.
To receive the designation, a hospital must undergo a comprehensive assessment of the entire medical imaging enterprise, including structure and outcomes. The designation recognizes excellence at the professional staff level, as well as the technology and policies and procedures that the organization follows. Also, facilities must be accredited by the ACR in all modalities they provide. And they must participate in the Dose Index Registry and General Radiology Improvement Database, as well as Image Wisely and Image Gently.
“This designation reaffirms our commitment to providing patients the highest quality care possible,” says Dr. John Gilpin, a radiologist at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital.
